With 1Focus, you can block distracting websites and apps for a set period to help you stay focused while you work or study. Occasionally, access to a website or app you need might be blocked.
This guide explains how to fix unexpected blocking of useful content.
Unexpected Blocking of Websites
- When a website is blocked, do you see the orange arrow icon and motivational quote? Otherwise, it’s definitely another app or setting doing the blocking.
- Make sure you have not blocked “All Websites” or another website category that might contain the website you want to access. Alternatively, add the website under Exceptions.
- Make sure you have not blocked any URL keyword that might include the website you want to access. URL keywords are surrounded by asterisks, e.g. *keyword*.
- Make sure you don’t have any general website blocks like “com” (this one would block all .com websites).
Unexpected Blocking of Apps
Make sure you have not accidentally selected “Block all apps except these”. That’s a very restrictive option.
Schedule
If the end time of a blocking event is set before the start time, the block will automatically extend to the next day. For example, if you schedule a block from 8:01 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., 1Focus will block websites and apps from 8:01 a.m. on one day until 8:00 a.m. the next day.
